NEW DELHI, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Five persons belonging to the same family, including a middle-aged couple and their three children, were found dead inside their home in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, confirmed the local police.

The incident was reported from the state's Kasganj district. The children were aged between 10 and 14 years. And the house was locked from the inside, according to the police.

The police said that it appeared to be a case of suicide. Further investigation was underway. The ill-fated family's neighbours reportedly said that the husband was facing acute financial difficulties for quite some time. ■
